24/7 HVAC Repair & Service in Tacoma, WA

24/7 emergency service call or text 253 370 8641.

From failing furnaces to air conditioners that can’t keep up, GreenFlow Heating & Cooling provides fast, reliable HVAC repair throughout Tacoma, Pierce County, and the South Sound. We diagnose the actual failure, quote it before we start, and fix it right including on equipment we didn’t install.

Common Problems We Fix

  • Furnace not producing heat
  • Air conditioner not cooling properly
  • Weak airflow from vents
  • Banging, grinding, or squealing noises
  • Short cycling the system turning on and off repeatedly
  • Unexpected increases in energy bills
  • Heat pump stuck in defrost or icing over
  • Thermostat and control board failures
  • Water around the furnace or air handler (condensate drain issues)

Furnace Repair

Your furnace delivers consistent heat through the winter, and its components wear. Signs it needs attention:

  • Uneven heating between rooms
  • Strange noises during operation
  • Burning or unusual odors
  • Rising heating costs
  • Pilot light color changes (blue is correct; yellow signals incomplete combustion)
  • The blower runs but the air is cold

We inspect the system, identify the problem, and recommend the most effective repair. Common fixes include igniters, flame sensors, pressure switches, inducer motors, limit switches, gas valves, and blower capacitors most of which we carry on the truck.

When replacement makes more sense: the unit is over 15 years old, needs frequent repairs, no longer heats effectively, has a cracked heat exchanger, or the repair cost approaches a third of a new system. See furnace replacement options.

Air Conditioning Repair

AC systems usually warn you before they quit. Watch for:

  • Weak airflow
  • Warm air from the vents
  • Frequent cycling on and off
  • Trouble holding a set temperature
  • Higher indoor humidity
  • Ice on the refrigerant line or coil
  • The outdoor unit humming without the fan spinning

Typical repairs: capacitors, contactors, condenser fan motors, refrigerant leaks (found and fixed, not just topped off), clogged condensate drains, and dirty coils. If repairs no longer pencil out, we’ll price replacement alongside the repair so you can decide with real numbers.

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps run year round, so they see more hours than either a furnace or an AC. We handle reversing valve failures, defrost board and sensor faults, low charge, auxiliary heat that runs when it shouldn’t (a common cause of surprise winter bills), and outdoor units frozen into a block of ice. Professional Repair vs. DIY

HVAC systems involve line voltage, gas, pressurized refrigerant, and combustion safety. Repairs without proper training create real risk and often turn a small failure into a large one. Professional repair gives you accurate diagnosis, the right tools and safety procedures, durable fixes, and protection of your manufacturer warranty most warranties are voided by unlicensed work.

Preventative Maintenance

Nearly 75% of HVAC failures come from preventable issues: dirty filters, worn parts, and neglected service. Routine maintenance includes system inspection, filter replacement, coil and component cleaning, electrical connection checks, refrigerant verification, condensate drain clearing, and airflow and static pressure testing.

Maintenance extends equipment life, keeps efficiency up, protects your warranty, and catches small problems while they’re still small. Our Precision Comfort membership covers a 29 point inspection, priority scheduling, and 10 15% off repairs.

HVAC Repair FAQs

How fast can you get here? We aim for same day or next day on no heat and no cool calls, and we take true emergencies 24/7. Members go to the front of the line.

What does a diagnostic cost? We charge a flat diagnostic fee that’s disclosed when you book, and we apply it toward the repair if you move forward. No surprises added at the end.

Do you work on brands you don’t sell? Yes. Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Rheem, Bryant, York, Amana, Goodman, Mitsubishi, Daikin our techs service most major brands.

Should I repair or replace? Rule of thumb: if the equipment is under 10 years old, repair it. Over 15 years with a repair quote above a third of replacement cost, replace it. In between, we give you both numbers and the honest efficiency difference, then you choose.

My heat pump is covered in ice is that an emergency? Light frost is normal; a solid block of ice is not. Switch to emergency heat and call us. Running it iced up can damage the compressor.

Can I get a refrigerant top off? Refrigerant doesn’t get used up if it’s low, there’s a leak. We find and fix the leak, then recharge by weight. Repeated top offs are how systems die early.

Do you offer financing on repairs? Yes, through Acorn Finance, with pre qualification that doesn’t affect your credit. Details on our financing page.
