Federal: Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit

If you make qualified energy efficient improvements to your home after January 1, 2023, you may qualify for a federal tax credit of up to $3,200 per year, claimable on improvements made through 2032. Qualifying equipment commonly includes high efficiency heat pumps, qualifying furnaces, central air conditioning, and heat pump water heaters.

Puget Sound Energy Efficiency Boost Rebates

Smart thermostats

• $130 line voltage connected thermostat (PSE approved models)
• $175 ENERGY STAR® certified smart thermostat

Space heating

• $750 ENERGY STAR® or AHRI certified natural gas forced air furnace (≥ 95% AFUE)
• $2,400 zonal electric resistance to ductless heat pump conversion
• $2,400 electric forced air furnace to heat pump conversion
• $2,400 hybrid (dual fuel) heat pump

Water heating

• $850 heat pump water heater
• $660 gas tankless water heater

PSE Standard Residential Rebates

• $1,500 replacing an electric resistance heating system with a qualifying air source heat pump (ducted or ductless)
• $2,400 Efficiency Boost rebate, based on household income (see pse.com/boost)
• $250 qualifying natural gas forced air furnace
• $750 Efficiency Boost rebate for gas furnaces, based on household income

Tacoma Power customers have a separate rebate program for heat pumps and ductless conversions we’ll check which utility serves your address and point you to the right program.
