How We Work with Builders

We give you a real drawing set, not a napkin sketch. We hold rough-in dates, we coordinate with framing and electrical so nobody’s chasing a chase, and we show up for inspections. Trim-out is clean, registers are aligned, and commissioning is documented before we hand it over.

Custom Home HVAC FAQs

When should we bring you in? At schematic design, before the framing plan is locked. Mechanical chases, return paths, and equipment locations are much cheaper on paper than in the field.

What does a full custom home system cost? It varies widely with size, zoning, and equipment tier. We give a design-stage budget range early so it can be carried in the build budget accurately, then a fixed price once the plans are final.

How long does the installation take? Rough-in typically takes three to seven days depending on size and zone count, then we return for trim-out and commissioning after finishes. We schedule around your builder, not the other way around.

Do we need mechanical ventilation? In new construction in Washington, yes. Tight envelopes need a designed fresh-air path. An ERV is our default recommendation because it recovers most of the heat while ventilating.

Can you do a fully electric home? Yes. Heat pump space heating, heat pump water heating, induction-ready electrical planning, and ERV ventilation. We’ll be honest about where a gas backup still makes sense for your site.

Do you work on remodels too? Yes — additions, whole-house renovations, basement finishes, and ADUs. Retrofits are often more technically interesting than new construction, and we like them.

Who actually does the work? Nathan is personally involved in every custom home project, from layout to final commissioning.
